The Masquerades Took Over Power in Nova Vas Near Poreč

Last night, representatives of masqueraders from the Nova Vas local committee, one of the longest-standing and most numerous masquerade groups in Poreč, hanged the pust, the main culprit for all last year’s misfortunes, on the well-known palun in the center of the town.

The masquerades from Nova Vas are the most famous and active in the area of the City of Poreč. Many people outside the local board participate in them, and this year the theme is the introduction of the euro currency. This year’s carnival is called Kunko Centić (kuna, cents) and Eurić Lipić (euro, lipa), which on Sunday evening, along with an appropriate gathering with music, wine and cakes and the collection of city keys, has already been hung in the center of the town, and will accompany them in their traditional masquerade tour of the surrounding towns in an allegorical cart on Sunday, February 19.

On the last day of the carnival, on Tuesday, February 21, the masquerades from Nova Vas will pronounce a sentence to the pust with a cheerful program and a festival.
