From Friday, April 7th to Monday, April 10th, the City of Poreč and the Tourist Board of the City of Poreč have prepared a special Easter program on the main square (Trg slobode) for their citizens and numerous visitors to officially mark the beginning of the 2023 tourist season.
A decorated Trg slobode, an Easter photo point, children’s entertainment, and a rich offer of Istrian delicacies are just some of the novelties that Poreč will offer its citizens and visitors this year.
On Friday, Saturday, and Monday, around 15 stands will exhibit their typical Istrian products at the fair of traditional Istrian products, offering honey and bee products, olive oil, vegetables, hemp products, lavender products, natural cosmetics, cured meats, various types of flour, goji berry products, wine, and fruit preserves.
On Saturday, from 10 am to 1 pm, a program for the youngest will take place, including face painting, a creative Easter workshop, and for the first time, fun Easter games with an animator.
Also on Saturday, from 10 am to 12 pm, hardworking students and mentors of the Anton Štifanić Tourism and Hospitality School in Poreč will prepare a Sweet Easter Morning. Visitors will be able to taste traditional Istrian sweets such as pince, povetice, fritule, chocolate fountains, and other sweet surprises for free.
The gastronomic offer will be based on typical ingredients for this time of year. Citizens and visitors will be able to taste quality food, with an emphasis on Istrian ingredients, such as cod on bread, bruschetta with anchovies, burgers with bacon and arugula, burgers with frittata, asparagus, and bacon in wine.
The music program is reserved for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm, Rezime Acoustic Trio and Duo Discover will entertain visitors, while on Sunday, from 11 am to 1 pm, the Brass Band of the Cultural-Artistic Society Matko Laginja from Sv. Lovreč will perform.
On Sunday, at 11 am, the traditional banquet for citizens and guests of Poreč will be served on Trg slobode – frittata with asparagus and bacon with a glass of wine and colored eggs.
“Easter is ahead of us, which traditionally marks the beginning of the main tourist season in our town. That’s why I’m glad that our Tourist Board, in cooperation with the City and the Anton Štifanić Tourism and Hospitality School, has decided to organize such a rich and diverse Easter celebration throughout the entire extended weekend. I invite our fellow citizens and guests to join us in Poreč,” said Loris Peršurić, Mayor of Poreč, congratulating everyone on Easter.
“We invite all citizens and tourists to join us on Saturday, April 8th, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the Trg slobode where there will be many sweet surprises, such as traditional Easter sweets in old and new attire with the inevitable chocolate fountains and numerous other surprises,” said Tatjana Gulić Pisarević, Director of the Anton Štifanić Tourism and Hospitality School in Poreč.
“In our tourist community, during the Easter holidays, about 20 hotels will be open, and we expect about 60,000 overnight stays. As for the structure of guests by nationality, the most numerous will be Germans, Italians, Slovenes and Croats. This year, in addition to a rich gastronomic and entertainment program, we will decorate the Trg slobode with completely new Easter decorations, which will be another piece in the mosaic of experiences in our destination. I take this opportunity to wish all the citizens of Poreč, as well as the numerous guests of Poreč and Istria, a blessed Easter and a warm welcome to Poreč,” said Nenad Velenik, Director of the Poreč Tourist Board.
