Poreč recently celebrated a remarkable milestone, reaching one million tourist overnight stays on June 26, two days earlier than the previous year. This achievement highlights the city’s thriving tourism sector, and the numbers reflect a 4% increase in total overnight stays from January 1 to June 26 compared to the same period in 2022.

Growing Tourism Figures
During the period from January 1 to June 26, the Tourist Board of Poreč recorded an impressive 1,014,727 overnight stays, marking a 4% rise compared to the previous year. Additionally, there were 234,225 arrivals, indicating a notable 5% increase from the same period in the preceding year.

Top International Guests
Poreč continues to be a popular choice among international visitors, with German tourists leading the pack. They accounted for 29% of the total overnight stays, showing a 4% growth compared to the previous year. Following closely were guests from Austria, representing 22% of the overnight stays and enjoying a remarkable 10% increase. Croatian tourists secured the third position, contributing 9% to the total overnight stays with a 7% rise. Slovenian visitors ranked fourth with a 9% share but experienced a 4% reduction in overnight stays compared to the previous year. Italian tourists saw a substantial 18% surge, making up 6% of the total overnight stays during the same period last year.

Accommodation Trends
Different types of accommodations also experienced varying levels of success. Hotels stood out with a 6% increase in overnight stays compared to 2022. Meanwhile, private households experienced a 3% decrease in overnight stays. Campgrounds saw a slight decline of 2% in overnight stays, whereas non-commercial accommodation, including holiday homes and apartments, witnessed a remarkable 19% growth.

Visitor Arrangements
Regarding travel arrangements, 59% of guests arrived through tourist agencies, while 41% visited Poreč independently. Tourists arriving through agencies experienced a positive trend with a 9% increase in overnight stays, while those who traveled independently saw a slight dip of 2%.

Off-Peak Success
Impressively, Poreč managed to achieve significant overnight stays even outside the peak tourist season. This success can be attributed to a variety of factors, including hosting numerous sports events, accommodating professional athletes during their training sessions, and organizing large-scale high-quality events. These efforts have played a crucial role in extending the tourist season and contribute to the overall outstanding performance of Poreč’s tourism industry.
