Mosquito Control Treatments in Poreč from August 21st to 23rd

A comprehensive mosquito control initiative is set to take place from August 21st to 23rd. This operation will involve the application of the Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) method, commonly known as mosquito spraying, across various neighborhoods.

The primary aim of this adulticidal treatment is to curb the mosquito population and minimize the potential risks associated with mosquito-borne diseases. The administration assures residents that all efforts will be made to ensure the safety and well-being of the community throughout the treatment process.

Treatment Schedule

  • August 21, 2023: The mosquito control treatment will commence in the localities of Baderna, Žbandaj, Varvari, Červar Porat, and adjacent suburban areas near Poreč. The application will occur during the late evening and nighttime hours to maximize effectiveness and minimize disruption.
  • August 22, 2023: Continuing the operations, the treatment will be extended to Fuškulin, Mugeba, and Nova Vas neighborhoods. Similar to the previous day, the application will be carried out during the late evening and nighttime hours.
  • August 23, 2023: Concluding the mosquito control campaign, the focus will be on the Poreč area, inclusive of a portion of the Veli Maj local community (northern segment). The treatment is scheduled during the late evening and nighttime hours to ensure minimal inconvenience to residents.

Should inclement weather conditions impede the successful implementation of the treatment, a provision has been made to extend the schedule by the required number of days until the operation’s completion.

The insecticides selected for this endeavor are of low risk to human health and the environment, as they are biodegradable and leave no lasting residues. The treatments are meticulously planned to occur during the late evening and early morning hours. Individuals with respiratory sensitivities are advised to stay indoors during these periods.

In consideration of beekeepers and the local beekeeping association, all concerned are requested to take necessary precautions to protect their bee colonies during the mosquito control treatments.

Citizens are also encouraged to play an active role in mosquito prevention by eliminating standing water sources on their premises, including containers, barrels, and flower pots, which can act as breeding grounds for these pests.
