Poreč Advent 2023 Promises the Richest Celebration Yet
Poreč is set to host its grandest Advent celebration to date, featuring a plethora of festive activities. The announcement was made today in the City of Poreč Council Chamber by Mayor Loris Peršurić, along with representatives from key partners: Eva De Zan Prusina of Plava Laguna, Vlatka Ilečić Arklinić from Valamar, and Nenad Velenik, Director of the Poreč Tourist Board.
Dates and Venue: Advent Poreč will take place at Matija Gubec Square from December 11, 2023, to January 7, 2024.
A Feast for the Senses: This year’s edition promises to be the most lavish yet, with over 100 diverse events catering to all tastes. Highlights include free ice skating, the ballet performance of “The Nutcracker” (“Orašar“) at the Žatika Hall, more than 30 concerts, a live nativity scene, children’s shows, the traditional Poreč Fairy Tale program, and gifts for 1,700 children. Additionally, there will be four New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Mayor Peršurić expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Poreč is living up to its reputation as the most beautiful and richest Advent in Istria. We have prepared the most opulent Advent ever, with over 100 different events for everyone’s enjoyment.”
Community Involvement: The community is integral to the event’s organization, from schools, kindergartens, clubs, and associations to institutions and key partners such as the Tourist Board, Plava Laguna, and Valamar.
Poreč Fairy Tale and New Year’s Celebrations: A significant part of Advent is the Poreč Fairy Tale program (Porečka bajka), where the City traditionally presents gifts and performances to over 1,700 children. The four New Year’s Eve celebrations will feature performances by renowned artists such as Petar Grašo, Jole, Nina Badrić, and others.
Premium Ballet Performance: A highlight of this year’s festivities is the world-class ballet performance of “The Nutcracker,” scheduled for December 23 at the Žatika Hall. Tickets are available starting tomorrow at a promotional price of 10 euros on entrio.hr.
Diverse Concert Program: Valamar Riviera celebrates its 70th anniversary and invites everyone to join the festivities on December 14. The program includes concerts by Cambi, Techno Vikings, Marko Tolja, and Nina Badrić. The day will also feature the return of the Princess Ball, a popular children’s program, specially organized for Valamar’s anniversary.
Free Ice Skating: Plava Laguna’s Eva De Zan Prusina announced one of the main attractions – a free ice skating rink open throughout Advent until January 7, from 10 am to 10 pm. The ice skating experience, including equipment rental, is entirely free of charge.
Community Engagement and Charity: The entire community, including local businesses, schools, and associations, is actively involved. A highlight is the Advent Charity Race on December 23, with all proceeds going to the Center for Inclusion and Community Support in Poreč.
Partners and Supporters: Partners of Advent Poreč include the Poreč Tourist Board, Plava Laguna, Valamar, and co-organizers such as the Poreč Public Open University, Usluga Poreč, Odvodnja Poreč, Poreč City Library, Poreč Youth Club, La Mula de Parenzo Visitor Center, Poreč Sports Community, local associations, schools, kindergartens, and many others.
