Gušti Merkata – A New Event at the Poreč Market

Discover the latest gastro-musical event in Poreč, brought to you by the city communal company, Usluga. Starting this Friday and continuing every third Friday of the month at the Poreč Market, visitors can enjoy Taste of the Market (Gušti merkata),  a delightful blend of freshly prepared dishes, socializing, and live music from 10 AM to 1 PM.

The event was officially announced today at the City of Poreč’s Council Chamber in a press conference led by Mayor Loris Peršurić and Usluga Poreč Director Luka Maleš. Mayor Peršurić emphasized the significance of markets as vibrant hubs of city life and essential components of the city’s tourist attractions. He praised Usluga Poreč for creating a platform that promotes local agricultural products, attracts both locals and tourists, and enhances gastronomic experiences.

Director Luka Maleš highlighted the event’s goal to showcase the market’s offerings with pleasure, turning it into a gathering place where friends can meet, grab a quick bite, and plan future outings. The inaugural gathering will feature tastings prepared in collaboration with the Poreč Tourism and Hospitality School, including dishes like hand-made pasta with asparagus, paired with wines from Brčić and Terzolo.

Furthermore, the event promises to showcase seasonal specialties in subsequent editions, such as sardine dishes, prosciutto, olive oils, and desserts, aligning with market availability and seasonal trends.

In addition to culinary delights, the ongoing revitalization project of the market underscores the community’s commitment to preserving local heritage and supporting local identity. Recent renovations include the reconstruction of the open-air section and upgrades to facilities like roofing, entrance doors, and HVAC systems, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
