The “Bike Center Poreč,” now officially the largest cycling center in Croatia, has opened its doors. Located at the start of the renowned Parenzana cycling trail, the center is adjacent to the Valamar Parentino 4* hotel. This project was made possible through EU grants awarded to Imperial Riviera as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

“Bike Center Poreč” is an integral part of the existing Valamar Parentino 4* hotel, owned by Imperial Riviera. Valamar now manages the center along with other properties in the Imperial Riviera portfolio.

Diverse Offerings for Cyclists

This modern cycling center is set to become a must-visit for cyclists of all levels—from families with children to recreational riders and professionals. The center offers a wide selection of the latest electric and mechanical bikes for rent. Additional services include guided bike tours, transportation for people and bikes, and bike repair services available to both guests and locals.

The center also features a themed cycling park with a large, asphalted pump track covering 566 m² and a circular children’s track, which is open to the public and free to use.

Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

Alen Benković, CEO of Imperial Riviera, emphasized the importance of this project for developing Istria as a top cycling destination.

“By building the largest cycling center in Croatia, we continue to invest in year-round sustainable tourism that brings added value to the local community,” Benković said.

The project’s total value is €6,059,631.21, partially funded by EU grants amounting to €1,586,126.72. Besides the construction of the bike center, the project includes a new outdoor spa/wellness area, a renovation of the Mediterraneo restaurant, seven hotel rooms, the installation of a solar power plant, a biocomposter, and staff training on waste management.

 Ideal Location for Cyclists

The proximity to the Parenzana cycling trail, which was once a railway line running from Poreč to Trieste from 1902 to 1935, makes “Bike Center Poreč” an excellent starting point for cycling and outdoor enthusiasts. The center will play a significant role in the development of sustainable, green, digital, inclusive, and year-round sports and recreational tourism in Poreč and Istria.
