La Mula de Parenzo Festival 2024 to Debut in Poreč
The historic town of Poreč is about to host a new cultural event, the La Mula de Parenzo Festival 2024, set for October 11 and 12. The festival aims to revive the well-known local song and legend, “La Mula de Parenzo.” It promises an engaging mix of history, art, gastronomy, and fun activities for all age groups.
A Year in the Making: Reinterpreting Local Heritage
Elena Uljančić, Director of the Poreč Heritage Museum (Zavičajni muzej Poreštine), shared that the La Mula de Parenzo Festival 2024 has been in development for nearly a year. The idea stemmed from the recent opening of the La Mula de Parenzo Visitor Center, located on the Poreč main square. The goal of this initiative is to preserve and promote the town’s rich cultural heritage.
Diverse Festival Program for All Ages
Sabina Damiani, head of the visitor center, emphasized that the festival’s diverse program offers something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy traditional street games, cultural exhibits, local cuisine, and live music performances. A key focus of the event will be educating children and young people on the historical significance of the La Mula de Parenzo legend.
Additionally, the festival will present a modern take on the character of La Mula, exploring her role through the lens of contemporary female entrepreneurs and creative innovators.
