Completion of Restoration Works on the Romanesque House in Poreč
Restoration works on the Romanesque House (Romanička kuća) in the historic core of Poreč have recently concluded, giving it a fresh new look. The project involved conservational and restoration aspects, including the refurbishment of the facade and interior, repair of inter-floor constructions, structural stabilization, restoration of stonework, as well as carpentry, electrical, and mechanical works.
The construction was executed by Kapitel d.o.o. from Žminj, with a total value of €315,644, overseen by Istra inženjering from Poreč. Conservation supervision was carried out by experts from the Conservation Department in Pula. Funding for the project was provided by the City of Poreč.
Elena Uljančić, the director of the Poreč Museum, announced that following the completion of the construction, preparations will commence for the opening of a permanent exhibition. The Romanesque House post-restoration, will be transformed into a center dedicated to interpreting the history of residential culture in Poreč, with a special focus on the building itself.
Dating back to the 13th century, the Romanesque House stands out for its Romanesque elements and stone carvings. Having undergone restoration during the Italian administration in the last century and surviving bombing during World War II, its revitalization and the establishment of an interpretation center will enhance Poreč’s tourism offerings and showcase the city’s cultural heritage.
