Top Bocce Teams in Europe Compete for Championship in Poreč
This weekend, on November 9th and 10th, the final rounds of the European Bocce Champions Cup will be held at the SRC Veli Jože sports hall in Poreč. This premier event gathers Europe’s best bocce teams, with clubs from Italy and France competing for the coveted title. The competition will feature clubs BRB Ivrea ASD and La Perosina Boulenciel from Italy, and St. Vulbas and Balaruc les Bains from France.
Historic Return of Bocce to Poreč
Denis Peršić, President of the Croatian Bocce Federation, shared his pride in hosting the European Champions Cup finals in Poreč for the third consecutive year. He praised the smooth collaboration between all parties to bring the event to life, promising fans an exciting weekend of bocce. Peršić also highlighted the international scope, noting that World Bocce Federation officials would hold meetings here, while a Chinese bocce federation delegation, currently training in Pula, will also attend.
“This competition showcases the finest European bocce talent, making it the pinnacle of the 2024 bocce season. With semi-final and final matches scheduled, Poreč will host world-class performances for spectators,” Peršić stated.
Top Italian and French Teams Face Off
Competition Committee President Damir Mendica emphasized this year’s unique structure, where the semi-finals see two Italian and two French clubs face each other. “The final will feature one team from each country, showcasing the top talents from two bocce powerhouses. This event offers bocce fans a rare opportunity to see elite players in action.”
Last year’s tournament featured Croatia’s own BK Istra Poreč reaching the finals, a historic achievement that resonates within the local bocce community. Mendica thanked the European Bocce Federation, Croatian Bocce Federation, and the City of Poreč for their continued support.
Kristijan Klarić, also from the organizing committee, added that this weekend would host a remarkable gathering of talent. “More than 21 world or European champions, averaging five per team, will compete in Poreč, with 37 total world titles between them.”

Poreč Deputy Mayor Ugo Musizza expressed gratitude to Bocce Club Istra Poreč and all contributors to maintaining the sport’s legacy. “Bocce is part of our shared Mediterranean culture, linking us with other Mediterranean nations. We will always support events that celebrate this heritage.”
