The Director of the Tourist Board of Poreč, Nenad Velenik, and the Mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić, unveiled a plethora of exciting events during today’s conference, set to unfold in Poreč throughout the autumn months.

Rich Autumn Events Schedule

This Saturday marks the return of Croatia’s most entertaining and largest swimming marathon – the 22nd Poreč Dolphin (Porečki delfin) at Pical Beach. The following week is reserved for the queen of the Adriatic – the Tunalicious Food Festival. Taking place along the Poreč waterfront and in local restaurants, the festival will not only showcase tuna prepared in myriad ways but also feature performances by Soul Fingers, Neno Belan, Fiumens, and Daleka obala.

As September draws to a close, Poreč will celebrate World Tourism Day with fairs, an eno-gastronomic show, guided tours, interpretive walks, and a grand concert by Parni Valjak feat. Igor Drvenkar on the Poreč waterfront. This serves as a spectacular finale to a successful season and a prelude to a vibrant autumn.

September in Poreč will also witness the European U-19 Futsal Championship, while October will host some of Croatia’s major sporting events. The Plava Laguna Ironman 70.3 triathlon, the largest in Croatia and this part of Europe, has already sold out its 1,500 participant slots. Additionally, the Istria300 recreational bike race has received over 3,000 registrations. The Žatika beauty in Poreč will host Croatia’s largest sports fair – Sport Fest, and the Poreč Rally will hit the roads, with Peškera bay featuring acrobatics as part of the European Jet-Ski Championship.

Thanks to the fully booked Žatika hall until the year-end, Poreč will also host specialized fairs this autumn – the PromoArh construction, design, and furnishing fair from September 20 to 22, and the Crofish fishing and fishing equipment fair from November 24 to 26.

September will see the continuation of events like Concerts in Euphrasian Basilica, Jazz in Lap, and the 63rd Annale exhibition in the Istrian Assembly Hall. The Zuccato Gallery will host the exhibition “Geologies” (“Geologije“) by Poreč native Luka Stojnić. From November 4 to 11, the PorečDox International Documentary Film Festival will captivate audiences at the Poreč cinema.

Outstanding Summer Season

Reflecting on the current tourist season, Velenik mentioned that Poreč has already achieved 2.8 million overnight stays, expecting outstanding results by the season’s end. Regarding recent media coverage of the German market, Poreč has seen an 11% improvement compared to the record-breaking year of 2019. Velenik highlighted the success in attracting 61,000 new overnight stays in the pre-season, thanks to well-established infrastructure and sports events.

Velenik emphasized that these results stem from the destination’s positioning and the implementation of a well-defined development strategy, focusing on quality events in the pre and post-seasons to motivate visits during these periods. The goal is to create an atmosphere where guests leave with positive experiences, making Poreč a hub for various events.

Peršurić expressed his gratitude to all residents involved in tourism for contributing to another fantastic season, acknowledging their role in ensuring guests feel at home in Poreč and leave with wonderful memories. As the Mayor, he extended his sincere thanks to everyone for their dedication. With the impressive lineup of events and the utilization of facilities like the Žatika sports hall, Poreč continues to stand out as one of the most vibrant coastal cities in Croatia, offering a rich and diverse program until the end of the year.
