Poreč Is the Most Visited Destination in Istria During May Day

Exciting news from Poreč, the most popular tourist destination in Istria over the May Day holiday weekend! According to eVisitor, Poreč saw a whopping 56,035 overnight stays, which is a 13% increase compared to last year, and 16,973 arrivals, which is a huge 28% increase compared to 2022. Guests from Slovenia topped the list, followed by Austria, Germany, and Croatia. Hotels were the most popular type of accommodation, followed by private homes, campsites, and vacation rentals. The Croatian Tourist Board confirmed that Poreč was the most visited destination in Istria and one of the most visited in the whole country.

On Saturday, April 29th, the “May Day Recreational Parenzana” was held in Baredine, which attracted a large number of cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers. The event was organized by the Poreč Tourist Board in collaboration with the Poreč Cycling Club and offered two routes – a longer one of 26 km for more experienced cyclists and a shorter one of 13 km for families with children. Cyclists from Slovenia, Austria, and Italy joined the locals in this fun event.

At the same time, the Customs Pier and Freedom Square were filled with great food and live music, making for a fun celebration of the city’s Day and the May Day holidays.

Poreč has had great occupancy rates throughout April, culminating in these fantastic numbers for the May Day holiday. The next two weeks will be dedicated to Vinistra and the Concours Mondial De Bruxelles, taking place in the Žatika Hall, as well as additional events and programs along the Poreč waterfront.
