Historical Walks with the Lady of Poreč, “La mula de Parenzo”

Starting on Wednesday, June 21st, free interpretive tours through the history of Poreč, known as “La mula de Parenzo Tours,” will be organized by the Poreč Tourist Board.

Immerse yourself in the sights of Poreč, discover its fishing traditions, and learn about the connection between the renowned American writer Ernest Hemingway and the city’s past.

Join us in singing the unofficial anthem of Poreč while exploring the interpretive center that takes us back to the past, as depicted in the verses of “La mula de Parenzo.” Actor-guides will acquaint you with the rich history hidden behind this popular folk song from Istria, Kvarner, Dalmatia, and Trieste.

All interested individuals will have the opportunity to learn about fascinating events and personalities from Poreč’s history spanning over a hundred years. Old fishermen, fishmongers, and even the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway will share stories during the tour. The itinerary includes stops at various locations such as the Northern Tower, Marafor Square, the city waterfront, Fisherman’s Square (Ribarski trg), and back to the Center of La mula de Parenzo.
